Being a working farm, Irene Dairy Farm is open 365 days a year. The farm gate opens at 07h45 and closes at 18h00. Unfortunately, we are unable to keep the farm gate open after 18h00 as we are very early risers. Just like farmers in the countryside wake up before sunrise to ensure the farm day gets started bright and early, so our work begins long before most alarm clocks go off! By the time our last visitors leave, our farm workers need to prepare for the early start to the following day.
Viewing of our dairy cows being milked takes place at our viewing gallery every day from 14h00 to 15h30.
The Dairy Shop is open from 08h00 to 18h00 every day for farm fresh milk and other delicious treats – don’t forget to grab a tub of our famous thick dairy cream too!
Our restaurants operating hours are as follows:
The Barn Restaurant
Monday to Friday 08h00 to 17h00 (last orders are taken at 16h45)
Saturdays and Public Holidays 08h00 to 17h00 (last orders are taken at 16h45)
Sundays 08h00 to 11h45 for the a la carte menu and
12h00 to 15h00 for the buffet lunch
The Deck Restaurant
Monday to Sunday 08h00 to 17h30 (last orders are taken at 17h15)
Please note that The Deck Restaurant does not take bookings and operates on a first come, first served basis. It also, unfortunately, cannot seat tables bigger than 6 people.
We ask that visitors respect our operating hours as once the farm gates close in the afternoons there is still work to be done. Also, please respect our closed farm gates and no entry signs as these are there for the safety of the farm as well as our guests. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the open spaces and farm in the city experience in the areas of the farm that we have modified to make such amenities possible.
